Hi DLubell,

To help us investigate your issue, please try to import videos using another device such as a camera or digicam. If Movie Maker is able to import videos from those sources, we can isolate the cause of your issue. Please let us know what happens.

Thanks!

Upon further tinkering, it appears that it my be a "problem" with my laptop.  I have since used another program to import video and it does so fine (as did Movie Maker) but no audio!  So now I think it has to do with how my laptop is configured...*I think*....

Any thoughts??

Hi,

To verify if the issue is caused by your laptop or not, we strongly suggest that you contact your laptop's manufacturer for further assistance. If the manufacturer confirmed no issues with your laptop, inform us so that we can investigate.

Thanks!

I've had the same problem. I've been using the EasyCap Video Capture USB device, and it will only run using it's own software (Ulead Video Studio) and not Movie Maker. I've tried every driver update I can find on the internet and not one one will work for movie Maker with my USB device.

I can only suggest you keep searching until you find a driver or a solution.

A quick search of the internet will tell you it's a Movie Maker compatibility problem that's either been ignored or never addressed.

No, you are not doing anything wrong, and it's not your laptop. It's Movie Maker.

Please post if you find a driver that works!

All the best!

(P.S. My USB device has never worked using Microsoft Movie Maker, with all updates and drivers to the following operating systems: Vista, Windows 7 and now Windows 8 Release Version).

I've always just captured via the included software and then imported the resulting file into Movie Maker for further editing.  It's a workaround, yes, but it works.
